The Secret to Better Sleep: Use a Grounding mat or “Earthing mat”

If you haven’t heard of “Earthing”, you may be happy to discover it eases pain, stress and aids in better sleep! I discovered a ‘Grounding’ Mat or ‘Earthing’ Mat about a year ago. A great naturopath friend of mine mentioned he uses an earthing mat when he sleeps. This intrigued me! He said it basically creates an easy way of connecting with the Earth’s natural energy again. He also said it would revolutionize my sleep!

My Better Sleep Experience with an Earthing Mat:
Living in Chicago, our weather is very unpredictable. Connecting with the Earth in the literal sense can certainly be a challenge. We have beaches, (if you live Downtown) but sometimes the warm season is very limited. I am not about to lay in mud and snow in the back yard! Especially with a 1-year old waddling around, I don’t have the luxury of sitting on a beach as often as I would dream. I have turned to using the next best thing: an Earthing mat.
I ordered my Earthing Mat from Amazon last year. I thought, what the heck? I’ll give it a try. If my super-healthy friend Alex loves his Earthing mat. I am sure he believes in it and benefits from using it! I had no idea that a few days later I would be feeling so great. Here is my Earthing mat. Simple to setup and so easy to use:
At the time I ordered my Earthing mat, Baby Harry had also begun the teething process. He is normally an champ sleeper! However, Harry’s teething schedule threw everyone off. Our entire household didn’t get much sleep.
After my Earthing mat arrived that crazy week, I began sleeping on it and really felt nothing. It’s not like a heating pad, or vibrations or anything. I kind of thought to myself, “It’s not working, oh well.” I kept sleeping on it for 3 nights and this is when I truly noticed the quality of sleep I was getting. Before, I was achey and exhausted from the baby and his teething.
Now I was rested, after only 5-6 hours of sleep! My joints, lower back and hips weren’t aching and I was noticeably less anxious throughout the day. I felt more at peace. I know in a world of instant gratification, I was expecting a jolt or a physical notice of the mat being ‘activated’, or something. I didn’t know what to expect. It really doesn’t work like that. It’s really simple to use in your daily life, and it sure does work!

It is also a top wellness trend for 2017 and predicted a top trend for 2018! Trendy or not, it was working for me! After just 3 days of using my Earthing mat, I was energized, focused and less achey throughout my body as well.

When is it Working?
I noticed a difference after 2-3 days. The best part is I didn’t have to use any medication to aid in my pain or my sleep! I experienced deeper sleep and moved around less. I had less back pain and hip pain in bed as well. My mind seemed more relaxed and focused throughout the day.
You know it’s working if you have an animal in the house, and the animal wants to sleep on it! My kitty, Tessie loves to find the mat on our bed and lay right on it! It has been said that since animals are so pure and connected to the Earth, they can actually see the good energy waves coming off of it, and want to be closer to the source!
